New OCPP 2.1 payment terminals on the roadmap

Run every charger
from one console.

Voltline connects any OCPP 1.6J or 2.0.1 charger, bills drivers by the kWh, and keeps stations online, even on patchy 4G and an unreliable grid.

Charger onboarding target: under 15 minutes, no custom code.

HOW IT CONNECTS

From power-on to first session in four messages.

The charger dials out over a secure WebSocket. Voltline answers, authenticates it, and from then on every status change, session and meter reading flows in real time.

Point the charger at Voltline

Set one URL in the charger's config. The last path segment is its identity. Voltline negotiates 1.6J or 2.0.1 in the WebSocket handshake, so mixed fleets just work.

GET /ocpp/CP-0007 HTTP/1.1
Host: ocpp.voltline.example
Upgrade: websocket
Sec-WebSocket-Protocol: ocpp2.0.1, ocpp1.6

HTTP/1.1 101 Switching Protocols
Sec-WebSocket-Protocol: ocpp2.0.1

Prove it is your charger

Every charger gets its own credentials. Unknown identities are rejected before a single OCPP message is read. Mutual TLS with client certificates comes with Security Profile 3.

BootNotification, accepted

The charger announces its model and firmware. Voltline records it, sets the heartbeat interval, and the station turns green on your map. New chargers wait as Pending until you approve them.

Sessions, live

Drivers start from the app, an RFID card or a QR code. Meter values stream in every 30 to 60 seconds; billing captures the exact amount when the session ends, and duplicate messages after a reconnect never double-bill.

THE PLATFORM

Everything between the plug and the payout.

Hardware-agnostic by design. Bring chargers from any vendor; run them, price them and get paid from one place.

Charger management

Sites, chargers and connectors in one tree. Live status, configuration, reservations and firmware updates.

Sessions and authorization

Start from the app, RFID or QR. Live kWh, power and cost, with auto-stop at a budget or kWh limit.

Tariffs and billing

Price per kWh, per minute, per session, plus idle fees and time-of-day rates per site.

Local payments

Cards, bank transfer, USSD and wallet top-ups, pre-authorized before energy flows.

Smart charging

Site power limits and load balancing across chargers sharing one grid connection.

Alerts and uptime

Know within minutes when a charger goes offline or faults, and fix many issues remotely.

BUILT FOR REAL SITES

Grid drops. 4G gaps. Revenue stays whole.

Chargers keep authorizing drivers from a local list while offline, then replay every transaction when they reconnect. Voltline deduplicates and bills only the energy actually delivered.

  • Offline authorization lists and transaction replay
  • Idempotent billing: a replayed message is never charged twice
  • Site load limits for grid, solar and generator supply
  • Alerts when a charger is offline for 10 minutes or faults

ONE PLATFORM, THREE SURFACES

For operators, drivers and partners.

Operator console

Live fleet status, remote start, reset and unlock, firmware campaigns, tariffs and payouts to site hosts.

Driver app

Find an open charger, start with a tap, RFID or QR, watch the session live and pay by card, transfer or wallet.

Partner API and roaming

REST API and webhooks for your systems; OCPI 2.2.1 to let other networks' drivers charge on your stations.

Any charger that speaks OCPP 1.6J or 2.0.1. We test each model in our hardware lab before it goes live on your account, and keep per-vendor profiles for the quirks some firmware has.

No. 2.1 extends 2.0.1, so 2.0.1 chargers keep working. You only need 2.1 hardware for its new features, like built-in card terminals or bidirectional charging.

By card, bank transfer, USSD or a prepaid wallet, through local payment gateways. The amount is pre-authorized before charging starts and the exact cost is captured at the end.

It keeps authorizing known cards from a local list and stores every transaction. When it reconnects, Voltline replays and bills them once, never twice.

Yes. Each operator gets an isolated, white-label workspace with its own branding, payment setup and driver app listing.
